(SOFIA) - The Bulgarian authorities said on Thursday they seized 111,750 euros (163,000 dollars) in counterfeit 50-euro banknotes and arrested four suspects.

The counterfeit notes were made in Bulgaria but destined for other countries, the interior ministry said.

The four suspects were all of Bulgarian nationality and were part of a counterfeiting ring under surveillance since April.

In mid-July, three Bulgarians and two clients from Romania and Switzerland who were allegedly part of the same ring, were arrested in possession of 20,000 euros of forged notes.
