'Brexit' talks to continue into Friday evening: Cameron

(BRUSSELS) - Talks in Brussels on a reform deal to stop Britain leaving the European Union will continue into the evening, Prime Minister David Cameron said Friday.

"Negotiations are continuing into this evening," the British leader wrote on Twitter, adding that an emergency cabinet meeting that would follow any deal "won't be possible tonight".

The Brussels deadlock has put on ice Cameron's plan to announce the date of a referendum on Britain's EU membership after the cabinet meeting.

His Downing Street office said the long-delayed EU summit dinner to hammer out a deal was expected to start at 1900 GMT.

"Before then, the prime minister is likely to have a number of further bilaterals including with the Danish PM, the Czech PM and the Dutch PM," his office said.
