Juncker sets up Task Force for Brexit talks

(BRUSSELS) - Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker has set up a Task Force to prepare for and conduct negotiations with the United Kingdom over leaving the European Union under under Article 50.

This follows his appointment in July of Internal Market Commissioner Michel Barnier as Chief Negotiator in charge of those negotiations and of the new Task Force.

Mr Juncker also announced the appointment of Sabine Weyand, currently Deputy Director-General in the Commission's trade department, as Deputy Chief Negotiator as of 1 October 2016.

Ms Weyand, a German national, is seen as bringing much relevant experience to her new assignment. In her current position, she covers WTO matters, trade defence, TTIP and neighbourhood policy. Prior to this, she was in charge of policy coordination in the Commission's Secretariat-General. She also was Member of Cabinet of Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy and Head of Cabinet of Development and Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Louis Michel.

The Article 50 Task Force will be in charge of preparing and conducting the negotiations with the UK, taking account of the framework for its future relationship with the EU. The Task Force will coordinate the Commission's work on all strategic, operational, legal and financial issues related to these negotiations. It will be able to draw on policy support from all Commission services.

In line with the principle of 'no negotiation without notification', the task of the Chief Negotiator in the coming months will be to prepare the ground internally for the work ahead. Once the Article 50 process is triggered, he will take the necessary formal contacts with the UK authorities.

All links must be broken ,all money to EU must be stopped .UK borders are closed to economic people that cannot financially support themselves with work in the UK . Trade will be two way deal as we trade with the World under UK Law and Sovereignty ,that is what BREXIT MEANS TO UK PEOPLE.

BREXIT

yeah - to close all links - they (brits) keep coming to stay longer in Bulgaria - and several days ago I just talked to one of them; in Bulgaria there are anywhere from 40000 to 50000 brits, and even Michael Farage's deputy bought a cheep country home while advocating "BREXIT"- ??????.Also Indian tycoon MITAL is stationed right there in London and before several years (with the help of hostile american hedge funds) he managed to take over mostly French superior ARCELLOR Metal group - even avoiding to show up before Bord of Directors to explain why he wants RCELLOR. Before 50-60-70 years British Empire was the industrial hub of the world, but now it is just past and many home need repair (especially the roofs) in UK, people wait longer to visit doctor and one UK Commission is very critical on the way Tony Blair attempted to justify Iraqi war - which in my opinion is a war crime. Tony Blair is also to blame that Turkey started negotiations (and Bush of course). And if brits cut links with EU where they are going to go - India - Pakistan or Burkina Fasso may be?

Cosmetic Impact

There is, of course, the possibility for a “cosmetic” Brexit, by which the UK formally leaves the European Union but remains a participating country in the single market. It could be an arrangement similar to that of the G77 and China: the UK would get special mention, and those actions in which it participates would be said to be acts by the European Union and the UK.
