Obama hardens support for Turkey's EU bid

(ANKARA) - US President Barack Obama on Monday voiced robust backing for Turkey's bid to join the European Union, saying Ankara's inclusion in the block would strengthen Europe.

"Let me be clear: the United States strongly supports Turkey's bid to become a member of the European Union," Obama said during an address to the Turkish parliament.

"Turkey is bound to Europe by more than bridges over the Bosphorous... Europe gains by diversity of ethnicity, tradition and faith - it is not diminished by it. And Turkish membership would broaden and strengthen Europe's foundation once more," he added.

Obama and Brown support Turkeys bid..

Posted by Demir Arabaci at 07 April 2009, 03:51 CET

I guess for every intelligent politician like President Obama and Prime Minister Brown, there is a moron somewhere like sarkozy of france and angella of germany.
What a sorry looking couple they make when they get together for photo ops.

Only the name here is different - Obama stands for George Walker Bush, everything else repeats, for many years
