(EVIAN) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Wednesday the Russian troop pull-out from Georgian buffer zones would pave the way for talks to resume on an "ambitious" EU-Russia partnership agreement.

"The full implementation of the accords of August 12 and September 8" on the Russia-Georgia conflict, "paves the way for the resumption of negotiations on an ambitious framework agreement, both in terms of the scope and intensity of cooperation," he told a conference in eastern France.
