ECB doubles amount of six-month euro loans to 50 billion euros

(FRANKFURT) - The European Central Bank said Tuesday it would double the amount of euros it lends to commercial banks for periods of six months to 50 billion euros (68 billion dollars).

An ECB statement said it had "decided to increase from 25 billion euros to 50 billion euros the allotment amount in the six-month" offer of funds that was initially announced on September 4.
