(BRUSSELS) - The European Union's foreign policy chief Javier Solana said Tuesday Russian troops "are beginning to move" from Georgia and expressed hope they would speed up the pullout within the day.

"Some troops are beginning to move," he told reporters but added: "The speed at which they move is something I am not able to clarify exactly."

"I hope very much that within the day the troops will begin seriously to withdraw," he added.
