13 August 2008, 12:51 CET

(BRUSSELS) - Eurozone industrial production steadied in June from the May level which had shown a sharp fall, data from the EU statistics office Eurostat showed on Wednesday.

But on a 12-month basis, industrial output fell by 0.5 percent.

Analysts polled by Dow Jones Newswires had broadly expected a slightly stronger performance, expecting a monthly increase of 0.1 percent, and a rise of 0.2 percent on a 12-month basis.

Eurostat revised its data for May, to show a slightly smaller setback of 1.8 percent in the month instead of minus 1.9 percent, and of a fall of 0.4 percent on a 12-month basis instead of 0.6 percent.
