Rome blasts EU parliament resolution on gypsies
(ROME) - An Italian minister on Thursday slammed a resolution by the European Parliament calling on Italy to stop fingerprinting Roma, or gypsies, saying Rome rejected "accusations of racism."
"Today's resolution by the European Parliament is one of the worst aspects of the EU institutions," said European Affairs Minister Andrea Rochi. "We reject with vigour and indignation the accusations of racism."
