(BRUSSELS) - EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana has received a response from Iran to an international offer to persuade Tehran to suspend nuclear enrichment, his spokeswoman said Friday.

Cristina Gallach confirmed that the response had been delivered Friday evening in a letter to Solana and to the foreign ministers of six countries that tabled the offer, confirming an earlier announcement by Iran.

She did not give details of the letter.
