(VALLETTA) - Malta's President Eddie Fenech Adami was briefly hospitalised for a heart problem, the presidency said on Sunday.

Adami was admitted to the cardiology unit of the Mater Dei hospital in Valletta for treatment on Friday and returned home shortly after, his office said in a statement.

All of the president's engagements next week have been cancelled, including a state visit on Wednesday to Libya, it said.
