(VIENNA) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy will travel to Vienna on May 30 to prepare France's leadership of the European Union which starts July 1, the Austrian government announced Wednesday.

In a visit lasting just a few hours, Sarkozy will meet with Austrian President Heinz Fischer and Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer.

The French leader is carrying out a whirlwind tour of European capitals ahead of his country's six month presidency of the European Union.
