France's Sarkozy to sign 'strategic partnership' with Poland
(WARSAW) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy will carry out a visit to Warsaw, already twice postponed due to scheduling problems, on May 28, a Polish presidential spokesman said Monday.
Sarkozy and Poland's conservative President Lech Kaczynski plan to sign a joint declaration on a French-Polish "strategic partnership", spokesman Mariusz Handzlik told reporters.
The French president will also meet with Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk and address the Polish parliament, according to Handzlik.
The visit was first scheduled for April 23, but delayed by the French president's attendance of a funeral.
Preparations for the meeting were also made difficult by the rocky cohabitation of Poland's conservative president and liberal prime minister.
Tusk had announced the French president would visit on May 9, but this date was also scrapped.
