We say goodbye to Ruth Sinclair-Jones who worked in British Council Brussels as Regional Change Programme Manager Western Europe & North America from January 2006 until October 2008. She contributed a great deal to the change as the British Council has moved from working on local projects to large projects spanning the whole Europe and North America region. She has now moved to Sao Paolo where she has taken up the post of Director Programmes Latin America and Caribbean.

We say farewell to Kirsten Vardy who started working for the British Council as a Project Assistant for the Transatlantic Network 2020, working on the development of the network through market research, exploring the attitudes of people in both continents towards the future of the transatlantic relationship, and TN2020 launch workshop in Berlin. In April 2008, she became Project Manager for Open Europe. She started working on MIPEX (Migrant Integration Policy Index) helping finalising the report for the European Commission and developing the content of the third edition of the project. She was also actively involved in the organisation of the launch of 'Ordinary lives' ,a photo exhibition of migrants living in Northern Ireland. Kirsten made great contribution to the team, through her knowledge and analytical thinking. She was also keen to exchange ideas and provide assistance to her colleagues.

We also say goodbye to our Teaching Centre Manager Andrew Manasseh who worked for the British Council for 14 years in Bangkok, Prague, Milan and Brussels. The EU training centre he set up in Brussels is regarded as unique in the teaching centre network for the specialised nature of its courses and the high profile of its clients. Andrew is going to head up the Brussels branch of Pinnacle, a media training company.

This month we welcome Shaun Waller who is taking a lead of our English and Exams work in Brussels after Andrew Manasseh left the British Council for pastures new. Shaun has worked for the British Council since 1991 in the UK, Thailand and Sri Lanka, starting out with the organisation as a Teacher of English and most recently completing a three-year posting as Director Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He likes contemporary art and enjoys good food and wine. He will be joined by his partner Tu Phan later in November and both Shaun and Tu are looking forward to exploring Brussels and beyond and taking up a new challenge.

Further information

• Work permits and visa: all applicants must have a work permit and visa to work in Belgium as the British Council cannot supply these.
• Interview: applicants must be available for face to face interview. The British Council can contribute a maximum of €100 towards travel costs as necessary, upon receipt of travel documents.
