As recent global cyber attacks have demonstrated, it is crucial for our increasingly interconnected society to strengthen its cyber security and resilience. Insurers play a key role in this process, by providing a range of services, such as awareness raising, assistance, mitigation and financial compensation when attacks do occur.

The effective fight against cyber threats requires cooperation between different stakeholders, including public authorities and insurers in particular. The event will discuss ways to strengthen this cooperative effort.

Keynote speeches on ways to increase awareness of cyber threats will be followed by a panel discussion on how to ensure insurability of these risks, in light of new EU legislation (i.e. the General Data Protection Regulation and the Network and Information Systems Directive). The panel discussion will focus on how cyber resilience can be supported through regulatory action, and the role of insurance in this process.
