Entrepreneurs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have access to only quite limited financial resources. To help them, France offers many sources of financial support.
There are different ways of accessing finance (personal savings, vendor loans, help or subsidies for the new owner, etc.).
Several tools can help with the setting-up or takeover of a business involving people in financial difficulty, e.g. deferring and then spreading of outstanding repayments.
France Initiative is a finance network offering business loans. Similarly, the Réseau Entreprendre network provides loans for new businesses.
Finance tools include loan and guarantee funds, the business and economic development assistance observatory, and the Entreprendre en France portal of the chambers of commerce and industry.
The directory of sources of government business assistance provides an access gateway to government funding assistance.
As well as government help for starting up and expanding a business, tax relief is also available.
France Angels is an association fostering contacts with business angels, i.e. wealthy benefactors with experience in a particular field.
Love Money is an association that provides information and help for businesses wishing to attract new shareholders. It advises business owners and puts them in touch with potential subscribers.
Business support organisations can advise businesses on how to find financing.
