Slovenian opposition scores well in Euro elections: exit polls

Slovenian opposition centre-right parties did surprisingly well in the European elections Sunday, winning at least four of the country's seven seats in the European Parliament, according to exit polls.

An exit poll by Slovenian state television showed that the ruling centre-left ruling coalition formed by the Liberal Democracy Party (LDS) and Democratic Party of Pensioners (DESUS) won 22.3 percent of the vote

The centre-right New Slovenia (NSi) party won a surprising 22 percent of the vote and the centre-right Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) 17.5 percent, according to the exit poll.

Another exit poll carried out by private POP TV gave the government coalition 23.6 percent of the vote against 21.1 percent for New Slovenia.
