US investment in EU accounts for 46% of total US direct investment abroad - EU Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce
Brussels, 13 December 2001 US investment in the EU alone accounts for over 46% of total US direct investment abroad. In 2000, total US exports to the EU amounted to $ 164.8 billion (EUR 192.8 billion). These are some of the figures appearing in the 4th edition of the annual investment brochure published by the EU Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce, "Europe and the US: The Benefits of Transatlantic Economic Relations".<P>This 34-page brochure aims to highlight the benefits of strong transatlantic bonds for the US, the European Union and the thirteen applicant countries (including Turkey) to the EU.<P>Mr Rockwell Schnabel, U.S. Representative to the European Union said "As global leaders, the European Union and the United States share responsibility for ensuring that economic and political security reaches the largest number of people.
