Publisher's Note
================
Intel got hit with a record EUR 1bn fine by the European
Commission on Wednesday, which claimed it used illegal
loyalty rebates to exclude its main competitor AMD from
the market for computer processing units (CPUs).

Anti-trust regulation is an important function of the
Commission which clearly affects business. The world market
for these particular x86 CPUs is worth around EUR 22bn per
year. Anti-competitive practices prevent innovative products
from reaching the end customer and deter innovative
companies from entering and competing in the market.

Open Day: thousands streamed through the doors of the
Parliament and other EU institutions in Brussels last

Comment of the Week
-------------------
Commenting on our piece "EU-China summit set for May 20",
Kelsang Gyaltsen, Envoy of H. H. the Dalai Lama writes in:

"This short news report refers two times to Chinese
accusations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama being a
"separatist" or seeking "independence" for Tibet. While you
are highlighting two times the accusations of the Chinese
government there is no mention of His Holiness the Dalai
Lama's publicly stated position since many years that he is
not seeking separation or independence of Tibet but genuine
autonomy for the Tibetan people. This position of His
Holiness the Dalai Lama is well recorded and officially
recognized and supported by many governments and
parliaments around the world".
