1. EU Parliament sets conditions for approving Brexit deal
The European Parliament, whose approval is needed for any agreement for
the UK to withdraw from the EU, adopted Wednesday its key principles and
conditions for doing so.
2. Clean up act on car emissions, MEPs tell EU
The Commission and EU Member States need to act swiftly to improve car
emissions tests and checks on new cars on EU roads, MEPs said in
recommendations voted on Tuesday.
3. EU Council adopts shareholder rights revision
The EU Council has adopted a revision of the shareholders' rights
directive, which aims to strengthen the long-term engagement of
shareholders in listed European companies.
4. Mobile roaming surcharges in EU to end by summer
The last hurdle on the way to ending retail 'roaming' surcharges,
scheduled for 15 June, was cleared Thursday as MEPs voted for the
abolition of wholesale price caps.
5. Online hotel booking under EU scrutiny
The Commission and ten national competition authorities have published a
report on competition in the online hotel booking sector, highlighting
the impact of antitrust enforcement measures on the industry.
6. Brussels raises import tariffs on China steel
The EC imposed anti-dumping duties on imports of hot-rolled flat steel
products from China Thursday, fixing at higher duties than provisional
measures in place since October.
GM bans: EU states are justified in banning genetically modified food
and feed only if they can establish a clear, urgent and serious risk to
health and the environment, the top EU Court's adviser said on Thursday.
