Why are Married Couples Choosing to Sleep in Separate Beds?
An increasing number of married couples in Britain are choosing to sleep in separate beds, according to a new finding.
The study was conducted by esure home insurance and found that 40% of couples have a healthier relationship because they have more independence and some experts are claiming that this is the secret of a good marriage.
The survey announced that one in ten people sleep in different rooms every night, while slightly more people surveyed sleep alone at least once a week.
Not only are couples sleeping alone, they are also spending their free-time alone too as the study also found that a fifth spend regular time apart during the day and even take separate holidays.
So what are the reasons behind this? Many couples choose to sleep in separate beds as one partner may be disturbing the other snoring and some couples also claim that sleeping in separate rooms is one of the reasons they are so happy together. If your partner snores, experts say it’s recommended for your partner to sleep on his or her back, or be propped up slightly with pillows behind their back.
The problem is not intimacy; it is the simple fact that couples have different sleeping habits. Couples can be uncomfortable sleeping next to each other as they have different preferences such as room temperature, watching the TV at night, or reading a book.
If this is an issue of space when you are sleeping, why not consider buying a bigger mattress so there’s more chance that you and your partner can sleep comfortably. Experts also suggest that people sleep better when any entertainment equipment or mobile phones are removed out of the room, enabling you to relax and have a well-deserved night’s sleep.
The Odd Mattress Company will provide you with a bespoke mattress that is suitable for your needs and will allow you and your partner to have a comfortable and restful night’s sleep.
