Spain Is the Most Popular Tourist Destination in September
Almost six million trips will be made abroad by Britons this month, according to a recent survey. Findings by a tourism operator have revealed that a wet summer has prompted a holiday boom in September and Spain is the leading destination.
The survey, published by exchange company Travelex, found that over 25% of Britons are taking late breaks overseas because they did not want to miss the Olympics in London. Nearly half of those surveyed did not go abroad in the usual school holidays this year and 23% confessed that it will be the first-time they will be vacationing in September.
But the key finding showed that the most popular hotspots this month are Spain, shortly followed by Egypt and Turkey.
Britons cannot be blamed for flocking to a foreign destination for a sunnier holiday. The UK summer has been a washout and it has been the drizzliest summer in 100 years. Rainfall has drenched the country for months’ on-end in contrast to Spain, which has experienced average temperatures of 32°C.
Elvin Eldic from Travelex said: “It’s clear that this is a great time of year to be heading away to catch some last-minute summer sun following one of the wettest summers on record.”
