More Business Electricity users are being tricked by Cold Callers

24 August 2012, 09:27 CET

Cold callers are beginning to trick business electricity customers into thinking that they are speaking to their existing energy supplier, according to the Energy Advice Line.

The Energy Advice Line has announced that one customer had so many calls from a cold caller that she was unable to “get anything done between calls.”

As a result of the repeated calls made by the cold caller, this individual customer was pressured into signing up to another false company.

Experts within the industry are claiming that businesses need to be aware that people are being conned in this way as this customer tried to rectify the situation but found that she would have to pay a significantly higher amount on her business electricity bills.

It is also wise to consider that when you are being sold any false contract it is very difficult to retrieve the money back as the liability is not the responsibility of your existing energy supplier.

According to energyadviceline.org.uk, Julian Morgan, Managing Director of the leading business energy price comparison service Energy Advice Line said: “the customer was not just tricked into the contract but then found out that the bills had increased as a result.

This is unfortunately the big problem with unsolicited cold calling as the customer is literally forced into contracts with high pressure sales techniques and no business electricity rates transparency whatsoever.”

Cold callers are professionals at what they do and will make as many calls as they need to in order to secure a false deal with a business electricity user. This particular scenario highlights that cold callers will pressurise customers into making them believe they are speaking to their existing supplier, causing confusion in the future.

Experts are advising that you need to be certain you are talking to your existing supplier, whilst you must also ensure that you don’t get pressurised into any false deals.

Businesselectric.com, the leading business electricity website can help you reduce the cost of your electricity bills by switching your business to a new tariff with lower rates.
