Many Britons look to holiday before Christmas 2012
Many people are planning to go away before Christmas this year, according to a recent online survey.
Independent Cottages, one of the largest online directories of holiday cottages in the UK, has announced that 56% of their website visitors are looking forward to having a break before Christmas this year, according to their latest on-site survey.
Over a sample of 4,500 searches, the results indicate that over half of the people searching are looking to get away during October and November, well before the festive period, as opposed to the 30% looking to get away to celebrate Christmas Day and New Year.
The results could suggest that more people are thinking of being back at home for Christmas Day. However, it could also indicate that last minute bookings will carry on up until the festive period. Sarah Jarvis of Independent Cottages said “Holiday cottage owners could well expect a flurry of Christmas and New Year enquiries right up to late December”.
Going away before Christmas to a more peaceful location is a great way to relax before the most hectic part of the season begins and after a year of hard work it is likely that many people are looking to have a well deserved break to prepare for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year.
During Christmas and New Year, the cost of eating out and for accommodation usually increases as many people are looking to celebrate with their family, friends and work colleagues for a Christmas party. If you are looking to get away before Christmas, you are more likely to find many special offers and discounts before the prices are set to rise!
If you enjoy walking in the scenic winter countryside, you will also find that the most peaceful time to get away is before Christmas as many people will soon be looking to walk off their Christmas dinner!
