Hot Tubs become the top priority for homeowners
Homeowners would prefer to buy a hot tub as opposed to a garden shed, according to a recent poll.
The survey, conducted by YouGov has revealed that people are more likely to buy a luxurious hot tub for their garden, rather than investing in a traditional garden shed.
Hot tubs have always symbolised a lavish lifestyle and with many celebrities and footballers owning them, the trend has rapidly increased in popularity.
YouGov questioned the 3,000 consumers on behalf of B&Q and the results highlighted that hot tubs have overtaken the green house, vegetable patch and even decking when it comes to enhancing the garden.
Out of the consumers surveyed, 16% said they had the desire to own a hot tub in their garden which was closely followed by a swimming pool (15%). This is supported by the fact that the British staycation has improved in popularity over the past twelve months which shows people are choosing to stay closer to home and are enjoying their own gardens during the summer.
The findings also revealed that people are favouring a relaxing soak in a hot tub rather than utilising the space to grow their own vegetables as only 13% favoured having a vegetable plot and 11% of people stayed true to the traditional approach of owning a greenhouse.
With hot tubs increasing in popularity, it’s evident that trends are changing as people are willing to spend their money on expensive items such as top of the range barbeques, expensive outdoor lighting, heating and water features.
The Guardian recently reported that The British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association (Bishta) estimates there are a staggering 80-100,000 hot tubs in the UK with 10-12,000 sold in 2005/6 alone, which also indicates that hot tubs are in demand items for the garden and home.
