On the occasion of the European 112 Day 2014, the European Emergency Number Association (EENA) is inviting media representatives to attend a press conference providing an overview of the current situation of the 112 system in Europe.

The press conference will focus on highlights of several national emergency services functioning, caller location developments and ways to improve the awareness levels of 112 in the EU.

On the 112 Day, observed every year on 11 February since 2009 all over Europe, Member States organise communication activities to promote the European Emergency number 112.

112 is the European emergency phone number. You can call the 112 to contact emergency services (ambulances, fire-fighters and the police) in any country of the European Union. You can use the 112 from fixed phones, including payphones, or mobile phones. Calls to the 112 are always free of charge. The 112 functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
