Job summary
The Society of Audiovisual Authors is looking to appoint a part-time Legal Advisor to assist the Executive Director with research, analysis and drafting of legal opinions as well as formulating legal proposals under the Executive Director’s supervision.

Main responsibilities

  • Research and analysis of European and national laws

- Research and analysis of laws, jurisprudence and professional practices in European and national laws in the fields of SAA’s activity (copyright in general, authors’ rights, collective rights management, contractual law for authors, competition law, media law, IPR enforcement, etc.).

- Special attention shall be dedicated to European Court of Justice cases in the field of copyright.

  • Conduct studies and write reports

- Conduct studies (including comparative law studies) and write reports in the above mentioned fields of SAA’s activity in order to improve the knowledge of SAA members and/or share it with the European institutions.

  • Draft legal opinions and formulate legal proposals in support of the SAA strategy

- Draft legal opinions to help define the SAA strategy in copyright-related EU legislative issues.

- Formulate legal proposals in support of the SAA strategy.

Qualifications and SKILLS

- Masters degree in intellectual property law, with a strong expertise in copyright law.

- Good knowledge of the European institutions and of the EU decision-making process.

- Very good English writing. A second language such as French or German would be an asset.

- Interest in research and law making process.

- Rigorous, responsible and creative. showing autonomy, initiative and reactivity.
