Senior policy analyst, policy analyst for Climate & Environmental Governance team, Institute for European Environmental Policy, IEEP

Deadline for application: 20 December 2017

Job summary

The Institute for European Environmental Policy is looking to recruit a Senior policy analyst/policy analyst for Climate & Environmental Governance team.

Location: Brussels or London

Details

The Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) is a sustainability think tank which undertakes research, advisory and consultancy work on the development, implementation and evaluation of environmental and environment-related policies, both in Europe and globally.

The posts

The climate and environmental governance team spans a wide range of subjects, from the EU's energy and climate policies, and the economic and social impacts of climate change; to a broader assessment of governance and policy-making, including the place for environmental issues in debates on the future of Europe, the EU and global response to the sustainable development goals, and environmental impacts of trade agreements. Your role will be based on your expertise within that field, and on your level of seniority and experience.

Overview of the work: You will be involved in a range of projects of different size, timescales and subject matter, for a range of clients. A key element of the team’s work over the next 18 months will be a substantial project for the European Commission, led by IEEP, developing a framework for the assessment of environmental governance across the 28 EU Member States. Other projects are likely to include work on governance aspects of Brexit; the Future of Europe debate; and ad hoc call-off projects for the European Parliament and other clients.

For the right candidates there is an opportunity to make a real difference to policy outcomes. IEEP has been at the forefront of EU environmental policy development since the 1980s. Our work involves frequent contact with the European Commission, the European Parliament and other key stakeholders in Brussels. You will need to have the skills and confidence to represent the Institute at a variety of fora in Brussels and elsewhere. You will need to demonstrate the ability to take on new tasks and responsibilities with enthusiasm, intellectual rigour and a strong sense of initiative.
