GWEC is the representative body for the global wind energy sector, representing the major manufacturers, owners, developers and others involved in this rapidly growing sector.
The twin crises of climate change and energy security provide both a unique opportunity and a major challenge for the wind industry; and the next few years will be crucial in deciding the shape of the energy sector globally as wind power emerges
as a mainstream power source in an increasing number of markets around the world.
Tasks
Working closely with the Secretary General and a small but focused team, the Policy Advisor will:
- Help lead an industry wide campaign on the role of wind energy in mitigating climate change at the UNFCCC climate negotiations in the post-2012 negotiations which are scheduled to conclude at UNFCCC COP 15 in Copenhagen at the end of 2009;
Represent the wind industry’s interests in the major global institutions involved in the debate over our energy future: the IEA, IPCC, Multilateral Finance Institutions as well as relevant think tanks and conferences;
Build the wind sector’s profile and presence within the various organisations which make up the business constituency in international processes;
Writing, research and analysis in support of all of the above.
