Further details

The responsibilities of the Europe Direct Contact Centre’s Policy Analyst are:

  • to maintain close contacts with EDCC Information Officers and teams, and with the staff of DG Communication and other Commission services, and to proactively analyse EDCC enquiries data, in order to maintain a continuously updated view of the EU’s communication priorities, current and in the 12 months ahead, taking into account two perspectives:
    • the planned activities of the Commission and the other EU institutions (e.g. elections, new Commission, EU Presidency, major new directives, programme launches, etc.) which require strategic communication effort
    • the patterns of actual enquiries (by topic, country, economic group and other parameters) which might reveal an emerging communication challenge for the institutions
  • to produce regular standard reports on EDCC enquiry statistics for DG Communication and for other specific client services such as the Research Enquiry Service and the Export Helpdesk, as required by the EDCC’s various specific contracts – these reports will be supported by brief narrative introductions highlighting significant trends, etc.
  • to work proactively to improve the value of the standard reports as management tools and as sources of added-value intelligence for the Commission
  • to proactively propose to DG Communication interesting possible topics for more in-depth ‘analytical reports’ to investigate trends, patterns in the concerns, interests and other communication needs of citizens, as expressed in the full records of EDCC enquiries
  • when requested by DG Communication (whether spontaneously or in response to an EDCC proposal) to conduct analytical studies of EDCC data in order to produce in-depth, high added-value reports for DG Communication or other Commission services – and, if requested, to present the reports to Commission staff
  • more generally, to propose and actively contribute to projects to improve the overall performance and quality of the EDCC service, under the direction of the Project Manager
  • if requested by the EDCC’s Training Coordinator, to contribute to trainings and briefings for EDCC and/or Commission staff in relation either to the maintenance of reliable enquiry data or to findings produced by analysis of this data
