The successful candidate will manage, in cooperation with the relevant contact person within the TREN department, the execution of physical monitoring activities of the projects financed by the Bank in the broader Transport sector (air, sea, rail and road transport), in order to contribute to the quality of the Bank’s project portfolio and to the Bank’s objectives.


Responsibilities

In general, contribute to the quality of the Bank’s project portfolio and to the Bank’s objectives to ensure that the Department's annual monitoring programme is fulfilled in line with established monitoring policies and procedures.

In particular, co-operate with the contact persons in the Transport Divisions in charge of the Appraisal and Monitoring of projects:

  • Follow-up on technical, economic and environmental aspects associated to project implementation and first year of operation; assess the progress and completion of projects in relation with initial objectives; identify and report on key risks; contribute to addressing and solving project issues
  • Assess the technical content of information received; check the quality of monitoring information throughout the process
  • Follow-up on contractual requirements related to project monitoring, e.g. reporting requirements, project conditions and undertakings
  • Implement the Bank’s physical monitoring requirements, including undertaking site missions, when required, in all countries where the Bank operates; manage interface with consultants or third parties appointed to support the monitoring of projects
  • Draft Project Progress and Completion Reports
  • Regularly report on the progress with the Department’s monitoring exercise and on results achieved
  • Collect and share the learning from experience gained through project monitoring, in particular related to the Transport’s sector issues and trends; collect feedback and propose improvements to the monitoring process
