Job description

Reporting to, and working closely with, the Head of the Public Communication and Media Section, the Outbreak Communication Expert will:

• Review and benchmark ECDC’s internal systems and capacities for communicating during a public health emergency;

• Work with colleagues across ECDC, and in particular the Preparedness and Response Unit and their contractors, to develop then implement crisis simulation exercises that will test ECDC’s outbreak communication systems and capacity;

• Provide strategic advice on how ECDC’s internal systems and capabilities for outbreak communication could be strengthened, then lead the implementation of agreed actions;

• Draft suggested media messages (Lines to Take) and media materials;

• Lead initiatives to identify and disseminate European / international good practice in the area of outbreak communications;

• Contribute to and support the networking of outbreak communicators across the EU and internationals;

• Support individual Member States in their outbreak communication activities, e.g. by participating in country visits or otherwise providing advice.
