The CEA is the European insurance and reinsurance federation. Through its 33 member bodies - the national
insurance associations - the CEA represents all types of insurance and reinsurance undertakings, eg pan-European
companies, monoliners, mutuals and SMEs. The CEA represents undertakings that account for approximately 94% of total European premium income. Insurance makes a major contribution to Europe’s economic growth and
development. European insurers generate premium income of EUR 1,100bn, employ more than one million people and
invest over EUR 6,800bn in the economy.

Function

  • Become or are subject matter expert on specific economic and financial aspects of (re)insurance, with a focus on prudential regulation.
  • Review and assesses emerging developments in technical and analytical areas of insurance and potential impact on a part or their entire industry.
  • Anticipates emerging trends and issues of importance for the European insurance industry in the relevant area 
  • Provides thorough analysis of developments and their impact on the position of CEA’s members.
  • Communicates information constructively and effectively to CEA members. Advises management on actions to undertake 
  • Provides services to the CEA members, e.g. is a point of contact for the members, updates members regarding legislative developments 
  • Supports CEA working groups and committees  
  • Organises and assumes responsibility for contacts and coordination with external stakeholders, including EU authorities, as well as other public or private organisations  
  • Is able to develop the CEA position, and to influence external partners
  • Contributes to studies in order to help formulate proposals for regulation or legislation
  • Provides content to CEA publications. Participates actively in seminars and conferences
