EU companies hosting Japanese trainees - Vulcanus programme

Numerous European companies wish to access the Japanese market but lack the means and the opportunity. The Vulcanus in Europe programme (run by the EU-Japan Centre) is aimed at European industrial companies which are seeking an initial contact with Japan or wish to develop their business with this country. By offering the opportunity of hosting Japanese trainees for 8 months, Vulcanus also enables host companies to establish close links with future managers in Japanese industry.
The trainee will be an undergraduate/post-graduate science student from a Japanese university. As well as speaking Japanese and English, (s)he will take a four-month language course in the working language of the host company, before starting the traineeship.

The EU-Japan Centre, a not-for-profit public body, will cover the accommodation and tuition costs during the language classes and during the seminar on the European Union and EU institutions.
The host company will transfer a contribution exempt from all tax to the EU-Japan Centre, which will pass on the full amount to the trainee in the form of a grant
- EUR 5,500 in the 12 new EU Member-States
- EUR 6,600 in the other EU Member-States, except the UK
- EUR 7,700 in the UK
