In Europe and in the world, different initiatives aim to reduce the
contribution of the agricultural sector to greenhouse gas emissions and
use the potential of land in carbon storage. The objective of this
symposium is to provide stakeholders, policy makers and the research
community with a clearer view of what is being done about the matter,
and what options can be envisaged.
The symposium is an essential part of the EU-funded project PICCMAT
('Policy incentives for climate change mitigation agricultural
techniques') and will mark its completion after two years of research.
On the occasion, the project consortium will introduce the final
results of the research, in particular on the mitigation potential of
agriculture in Europe, and policy recommendations for the coming years.
